Sonos Era 100 & Era 300
The Era 100 is the workhorse of the range — a compact stereo speaker that punches well above its size in a kitchen, study, or bedroom. The Era 300 steps up to spatial audio with six drivers angled front, side, and upward, making it the speaker of choice for Atmos rear surrounds or a primary room where you want real presence. We place, mount, and configure both.
Sonos Arc + Sub + Era 300 rears
This is our flagship media room configuration: the Arc Ultra anchoring the front with fourteen drivers and native Dolby Atmos, the Sub 4 adding clean, room-filling low end, and twin Era 300s bonded wirelessly as Atmos-height rears. The result is a 5.1.4 spatial audio system that's genuinely comparable to a dedicated cinema install — without tearing up the ceiling. It's the package most Canberra clients end up booking when they hear it demonstrated.
Sonos Move 2 & Roam
Not every zone needs a fixed speaker. The Move 2 is a substantial portable with weather-resistance and a 24-hour battery — ideal for a covered outdoor area, a garage workshop, or anywhere you want music that follows you. The Roam is the compact version, suited to a bathroom shelf or bedside. Both integrate into the same Sonos app as every other zone in your home. We advise on placement and help you get them into your network.
Sonos Architectural (in-wall / in-ceiling)
Sonos partners with Sonance to produce architectural speakers designed to be invisible — flush-mounted into walls and ceilings, paintable, and driven by a Sonos Amp installed in a comms cupboard or equipment rack. This is the right solution for kitchens with bulkheads, alfresco areas, master bedrooms, or anywhere you want sound without visible hardware. We handle the full scope: cutting, cabling, mounting, fitting the Amp, and commissioning the zone in the Sonos app.
Sonos Amp + third-party speakers
If you already have quality passive speakers — perhaps a pair of bookshelf speakers you're fond of, or in-ceiling speakers left over from a previous install — the Sonos Amp bridges them into the Sonos ecosystem cleanly. One Amp drives two channels, connects to your network, and makes any passive speaker part of your whole-home audio. We assess your existing gear, advise on compatibility, and integrate it properly.
Multi-room Sonos design — how we plan it
A well-designed multi-room system is invisible when it works. Getting there takes a bit of planning upfront.
Zone mapping
We start by mapping how you actually use your home — which rooms want background music, which want cinematic volume, where you want synchronised playback (kitchen and outdoor at the same time), and where you want independent control. A typical 4-bedroom Canberra home ends up with five to seven zones: kitchen, lounge, alfresco, master bedroom, and two or three secondary rooms. We don't push zones you don't need.
Network considerations
Sonos runs on Wi-Fi, and a weak or congested network is the number one cause of dropouts and connection issues. We assess your existing router and access point coverage before any kit is ordered. If your network needs reinforcement — particularly in larger Canberra homes, split-level properties, or homes with masonry internal walls — we'll recommend and install UniFi or similar access points as part of the job. SonosNet (mesh) helps, but a solid underlying network is better.
Source equipment
Most Sonos systems stream from Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, or similar services directly — no separate streamer required. Where a TV is in the chain, we use HDMI eARC to pass audio from the TV to the Arc. Where vinyl or a CD transport matters to you, the Sonos Amp accepts a line-level analogue input. We configure each source so it shows up cleanly in the app without any manual switching.
Sonos vs Bluetooth speakers — why people upgrade
We get asked this often enough that it's worth addressing directly.
Consistent, network-based audio
Bluetooth tops out at around 10 metres and drops out through walls. Sonos uses your home network, so you can walk from the kitchen to the back garden without the music skipping, re-pairing, or cutting out. For a house spread across multiple rooms, there's no real comparison.
True multi-room synchronisation
Bluetooth can play in one room at a time per device. Sonos synchronises multiple rooms down to the millisecond — no echo effect as you move through the house. You can also group rooms differently for different occasions: whole house for a party, just kitchen and alfresco for a Sunday afternoon.
Anyone can play music
With Bluetooth, whoever's phone is connected controls the music. With Sonos, every member of the household can add to the queue, skip tracks, or change the room from their own phone simultaneously. Guests can join too without needing your Wi-Fi password shared in a clunky way — Sonos handles the permission model cleanly.
No phone required to play
Once configured, Sonos can play scheduled alarms, voice-triggered playlists, or automation-triggered audio without any phone involved. If you have a smart home controller, Sonos integrates natively. If you just want "morning news on in the kitchen at 7am automatically", that's a single setting in the app.

Inner South — 4-bedroom federation conversion
A Griffith home with a recently renovated open-plan kitchen and living area. The brief was cinema sound in the lounge and background music through the rest of the house without any wall damage. We installed the Sonos Arc Ultra with Sub 4 on the feature wall, Sonance in-ceiling in the kitchen (driven by a Sonos Amp in the comms cupboard), and an Era 100 in each bedroom. Seven zones, one app, zero visible cables in the kitchen or bedrooms. The owners had tried a Bluetooth speaker system previously — they said the step-up was significant enough they wished they'd done it years earlier.
Woden — contemporary townhouse
A Curtin townhouse owner who wanted whole-home audio on a sensible budget. Rather than specifying a speaker in every room, we mapped the actual zones she used daily: open-plan ground floor, covered courtyard, and master bedroom. Three Sonos Era 100s, one Move 2 for the courtyard (no outdoor cabling required), and a straightforward network using the existing NBN router with one additional access point to cover the courtyard. Installed in a single day. She's since added an Era 300 in the lounge after hearing it at a friend's place.
Belconnen — new build
A Bruce new-build where we were brought in during construction to pre-wire for ceiling speakers throughout. Sonance in-ceiling in five zones — kitchen, dining, alfresco, master, and theatre — with conduit dropped to a centralised rack location. Post-build, we returned to install four Sonos Amps, two Era 300 rears for the theatre zone, and an Arc Ultra as the soundbar. Because the cabling was done before plaster, the finish was completely concealed. This is the ideal scenario for a new build — if you're building in Canberra, talk to us before the plumber goes in.

We quote each job based on a site visit — exact pricing depends on your home's construction and what's involved on the day.
We supply and install. Our packages include the hardware — it's quoted as a single scope covering equipment, labour, cabling, configuration, and handover. If you've already purchased Sonos gear you'd like us to integrate, we can discuss that separately.
In most cases, yes — via the Sonos Amp. It accepts a pair of passive speakers and connects them to the Sonos network as a standard zone. The Amp handles stereo channels and is controlled through the same app as every other Sonos product. We'll assess your existing speakers and advise on whether the pairing is worthwhile.

Sonos requires a stable home Wi-Fi network. It doesn't need a fast internet connection for local playback (music already on a NAS, for instance), but streaming from Spotify or Apple Music requires a working internet connection. The main requirement is consistent Wi-Fi coverage throughout the zones you're installing. If your home has dead spots — common in larger Canberra homes with masonry walls — we'll address that as part of the project, typically with one or two additional access points.
